IR PHOTO_help please

Mon Feb 2, 2009, 2:33 PM
hey there

well ppl I love IR photography and I would like to give
it a try, so here is my question:

do you know if the filters are universal?
which one is the best?

if they are not universal:

what's the best one for Nikon D40?

thank you :)

The best IR images I ever seen, were made with IR B&W Film. Don't know if digital will even be something quite like that...

It depends... do you have a D40 or a D40x? This might affect the time of exposure drastically. The best filter would be the Hoya R72 and you definitely need a tripod too.
:iconlady-mephista:
its the d40
yey i am searching for a good tripod, next step will be the filter... is that hoya r72 good for d40?

Yes the Hoya R72 will do a great job, expect exposure time of about 1s. with the filter on. At least that was the case with the D50, since the D40 has the same sensor it should be the same thing. D40x are bad for IR

you're welcome... if you have any other questions don't hesitate
